Maintaining consistent habits and expectations for yourself that are sustainable year round can help make the transition from season to season more seamless because not much is changing other than your body.
Removing emphasis on the physique is important in this process too. If you care more about the physique than you do about the steps needed to obtain or maintain the physique, you likely won’t see the value in these behaviors. For example…your meals serve a purpose beyond getting you leaner or more muscular. Maybe prepped meals help you focus on other important things in your life or support you in sustainable energy throughout the day…there is always more to love about the lifestyle and we have to celebrate that year round. You might not think some of the things you do in prep or in improvement season are worth doing at the opposite season but they can make a huge difference in how you perceive each! I am in month 10 of improvement season and still practice posing often, eat my go to meals but with more flexibility, make time to reflect on where I can improve and focus on that, have calls with family and friends, spend time with outside….and in my last prep I did all of this too! Because it all means something to me beyond the somewhat predictable life of a bodybuilder. By adding more meaning to our habits, we create a greater chance for ourselves to sustain them! Hope you like some of the ideas I shared in slide two and the last one gives you the opportunity to set some standards for your life regardless of the season :) Other good ones include: celebrating your body, having beliefs about yourself that remain regardless of the season, and communicating with and on behalf of your body’s needs and health. Want some more ideas? Download the competitor card deck I made with 3 different stacks of cards, one for affirmations, one for action, and one for introspection. Each prompt is different and built to support you mentally! #BUILDMORETHANJUSTABODY
