If self-consciousness is holding you back from practicing posing, you’re doing your future self a HUGE disservice
Champions do what needs to be done and make it work regardless of circumstance
You of course don’t want to practice wrong over and over again (which is why I’m seeing @poselikepro on Monday!) but it is important to keep the flow because even if your posing does change by your next prep, you will want to have flow
I put my heels on in the improvement season too because it’s important to practice the walk and holding poses so it’s easier to play later rather than trying to build up stamina to just hang in heels!
If you think you’re “too” far away from your prep shape, “too” big, “too” uncomfortable....GOOD
Use it to fuel that drive every day in the gym. See your pumps, use posing as an asset to your improvement areas, and let this be practice of exposing yourself to your beautiful body in EVERY shape
If you only think you’re worthy of posing when you are lean or getting ready for a show then you are sending the message that your body is only worth being displayed or accepted or celebrated or shown when leaner
If you struggle to accept your body in every season, use your amazing ability as a competitor and STRUT
Because you my friend, deserve to feel empowered in your body, and in love with every season
After all, the growing season is what really is building what will eventually be on stage—physically & mentally

What would be different in your day to day reality if you spent more time celebrating your soul than criticizing the shell you live in?
Personally it’s brought me more pride, confidence, and trust.
Seeing myself for who I am while staying present to areas for growth has empowered me to look beyond surface level and celebrate what really makes me me.
We both know that you can’t remember that pimple, wrinkle, scar, food in teeth, stray hair, or any other unmet “standard” when thinking back on conversations with others.
What makes yours more memorable?
Latching onto anxieties about how others perceive us comes from the desire to protect ourselves by having a community that accepts us.
It’s ingrained in our DNA really, but it doesn’t have to mean we turn that into negative self judgment.
Usually these judgments come from an “ideal” we perceive to exist in the places we are seeking to grow in, which then can put unfair pressure on ourselves that at times can be in-conducive to growth.
What’s interesting is we tend to remember more of the real connections than the manufactured ones because these are the ones our brains recognize as protective factors (even if the real connections are strange).
If you feel a lack of connection to your communities (work, family, friends, sport, etc) then start by looking at where you personally feel you don’t belong, where those beliefs came from, and if there are then areas you wish to actually improve on for your own life and benefit then accept and begin doing so, if it’s coming from negative or untrue beliefs about yourself or the community then create a list of reasons you do belong or are an asset or maybe need different!
Hope this helps you take some pressure of yourself and find that you can fit in right where you are while striving for more, that’s the beauty of it really because we are all seeking ways to grow even those “on top”.

I remember when Jana first started going through my 8 Day Free Food Relationship Coaching Series
She emailed me every day, with action taken from each part of the free program (it is quite in depth if you really get into it), and I provided her feedback each day as I promise to
By the end, we got on a little bonus call she had gifted herself and I told her she had already made so much progress and if she really wanted to do the Food Relationship Healing & Discovery 1:1 Coaching Program, her momentum would only continue
She told me she had actually been planning to do the program given she had just come out of her first competition season and had been listening to my Confessions of a Bikini Pro podcast and would hear me talk about the work I do!
She didn't realize that she had an unhealthy relationship with food because on prep she was on point!
But when she came out of her shows she realized she was falling back into old patterns which took her back to a scary time battling breast cancer and didn't want the relationship with food she never resolved to resurface after prep
Jana says, "...truth be told I didn't realize how much I needed it until I was in the middle of it."
It took going through this program to accept that your why can change and evolve with the season you are in and trying to cling to prep mode is only going to hurt her more as an athlete long term.
Jana realized that food was not inherently bad and if she gave herself the freedom to trust herself then she wouldn't sabotage herself!
She went from eating something off plan, saying screw it and leading to a binge or overeating, then punishment and then going into the same repetitive cycle but now she shares, "I am learning to meet that head-on instead of waiting for it to sabotage...I'm fixing it beforehand and it's given me confidence and self-control that I didn't know I had..."
Working with Jana was a pleasure because she stayed consistent. I knew she would dig deep, I knew she would commit to the work, and I knew the more she said yes to herself and her needs then the more progress she would make so I definitely pushed her with lots of questions, resources, and action steps

Many of my clients tell me they appreciate the depths I take them too. This is honestly because I am not there to tell you what to do or why things are happening all the time
Yes, the program has lots of psychoeducation
Yes, the program is full of resources and tools from me
Yes, there will be lots of questions answered, insight provided, and evidence based practices employed...but ultimately none of this is what creates success for my girls, it is them showing up every day even when it isn't 'perfect' and continuing even when they feel lost, stuck, helpless, scatterbrained...
Like Jana says, "Ultimately if we can't be happy with ourselves then we're really just not gonna be happy towards other people."

This week a client shared a win that hit home, she said her new found freedom with food has given her freedom to think, live, create, & use her time in fulfilling ways.
Before, she was obsessing about food; the next meal, macros, if food was prepped, fears, urges to binge, figuring out if she “should” eat things, guilt & lingering thoughts of food, if she could go out with her friends, her parents worrying...
She expressed that she couldn’t believe 2 weeks ago she couldn’t trust herself & she was justifying restricting / punishing herself as a “champion would” only to then binge later leading to a reinforced failure mentality.
I remember being like her
I judged myself for anything that wasn’t a “whole” food & put myself on a pedestal in an effort to feel “better” about myself while secretly feeling very trapped & unworthy of autonomy.
I found myself clinging to portrayed standards of an identity to justify disordered thinking & behavior as “reasonable”.
In my journey to healing my relationship with food I knew the goals & desires weren’t inherently “bad” but my intentions, thoughts, & behaviors were representative of a deeper problem.
I was experiencing cognitive dissonance.
One of my core values is freedom & yet I trapped myself into “norms” I had conditioned myself to believe were “necessary for success” only to find they were what ultimately made me prone to sabotage.
What I’ve found & now commit my life to helping other ambitious, “type a”, “all or nothing”, 1%ers, competitors...find is that, as with anything in life.
If you are in it for the long run you have to embody the lifestyle & sustain it which, like any other human endeavor, is best done with daily effort that aligns to core values, awareness & willingness to change, & acceptance that it actually isn’t supposed to look the same as others because we’re all so incredibly different.
To make peace with food, your body, & your goals you must make peace with yourself.

You’ve started a movement & community with PODCASTING.
Who knew a simple vision to share from your heart would turn into something so much more fulfilling than you ever imagined?!
Like I said, It doesn’t require much these days to hit launch and get your voice out there.
But there’s a difference between producing content and producing content with a purpose.
Lots of people end up quitting their podcast because they don’t get what they thought they would out of it.
(Money, clients, fame, sponsorships, and an invite from Joe Rogan to bring the two most popular podcasters of all time into the same room-no doubt this man mastered the art of using his voice to do something he loved without any hidden agenda--that's the key!)
The problem for most though, lies in execution.
If you do not create your podcast to generate new leads, clients, fans, and opportunities then it will never scale to levels beyond your wildest dreams.
Sure, get your voice out there in a basic way and you’ll make a difference—no doubt. And you don't haveee to sell the crap out of your stuff on every episode, in fact you shouldn't have to if you are being genuine.
But getting your voice out there in an advanced, strategic, targeted way will help you to make an IMPACT with your influence that spans well beyond the play button.
Getting people to go from “tuning in” to “buying in” comes when you have a system that complements your incredible mission.
If you’re going to use your voice, use it to inspire others into action that you truly believe can change their life. If it's your coaching program, an event, a book, something you are affiliated with, or a fulfilling ideology, conversation, or approach to life then why not continue to encourage others to work with you if you are equipped to help them?
With that said, podcasting has been the biggest game changer for my business, and I am so grateful for that.

Way back to when Confessions of a Bikini Pro Podcast was in its initial stages...no idea then what it would turn into now.
I didn’t even know if anyone would say yes to come on to the show in its baby stages (shoutout to all my amazing guests!!!) and I certainly didn’t know if people would like it since there wasn’t anything like it out in the podcast space yet.
I’m still taken back when people say it’s part of their vision board, goals, and dreams! Love how we can all be fans of each other.
All I knew was I had a passion to foster community and connection through vulnerable conversations highlighting the mental health, physiological, and life experiences of IFBB bikini professionals.
The goal was always to learn, inspire, motivate, & understand while shining light on a division in bodybuilding that is soooo deserving of it.
I would not have been able to grow it to over 471,288 unique downloads completely organically without all of your support and listenership!
Can we hit 500k and do a big giveaway soon?? What do you think?
Anyways, When you serve with passion and purpose the outcomes become so much more rewarding because they are bonuses to the bigger picture!!

Whether or not you think 2 people would listen let alone thousands...YOUR VOICE MATTERS
If you’ve ever considered starting a podcast I encourage you to start taking action to make it a reality.
I remember how frikkin scary failure was to me—but that’s how I knew it was meant to be executed on.
So, What’s holding you back?!
Are you mentally prepared to start a prep...A diet... or a cut of any sort?
I see many female competitors jump right back into a prep or a cut to gain a false sense of security and control and ultimately when they complete their season, they’re surprised to find the problems are still there.
Unfortunately running from your mind will never bring you peace within it.
Let me be clear by saying there’s nothing wrong with enjoying prep or cutting or wanting to do these things.
But how successful will you really be if you haven’t first established a healthy relationship with food and your body in every season?
If the intention is to “clean up” or “fix” or “get more control again” or anything of the sorts, it’s likely not coming from the best place.
First of all, your diet shouldn’t even be that out of the norm from one season to the next
Sure one may have more rigidity and one may have for freedom but the underlying feeling & intention is what must be consistent for longevity.
Hopping into a prep without the mental capacity to do so creates some rocky grounds.
Even if you know you’re on point with a prep and would never slip up on prep...what about after?
What we do, think about, associate with, and continuously reinforce WILL influence our future.
Waiting until after your show or after your season or after anything is dangerous because it’s giving more and more time for the negative behavior & thought patterns to fester.
You may not realize the habits in prep are not setting you up for successful reverse but many do (constant ab checking, thinking you’re better than for having xyz instead of abc, staring down your measurement charts or scale, positively reinforcing only weight or measurement drops, thinking of the food you’re going to have post show & drooling over it all...and many more risk factors)
Which is why it is sooo important to take the time to focus on your mental health before jumping into a prep AND while in prep!
It takes conscious commitment every day.
