How Self-Discovery & Mindfulness Brought this Competitor Peace with Herself and Food

Before starting this program Natalia was struggling with emotional eating and self identity after doing a bikini competition.

One side of her wanted to go off plan, eat with loved ones, and not care about macros or calories anymore while the other side of her wanted to stay on point with her plan.

Working in the program she was able to realize what was important to her, how she could enjoy the best of both worlds, and ways she could further align with her ideal self.

She was done with feeling guilty and ashamed of her choices and found that during and after this program she was able to identity where the desire to go off plan was coming from and how she could combat the urge to self-sabotage without completely restricting herself from enjoying time with loved ones.

She shares how she felt about her experience in my food relationship program and how beneficial it was for her to come to terms with her true desires and needs as it pertains to this lifestyle so she could start seeing even greater success with peace of mind.

Natalia says it was not just about improving her relationship with food but also with herself which was huge for her and hopes others feel inspired to take the leap of faith to find this peace for themselves too :)

Staying Focused on the Here & Now While Going after my Dreams

“The kind of focus where I don’t count the days, I make the days count”


I am getting lost in the process & loving every moment of it because every moment of every day brings me a new experience to learn, celebrate, & grow


I’ve set out to achieve many goals and many of them won’t wait on me


I have a business to run, bodybuilding to evolve with, a masters degree to earn, a move unfolding, and of course my relationships to maintain—to name a few


I have no choice but to keep the focus on the here and now


This doesn’t mean I don’t dream and visualize or ever reflect—in fact, I do this daily!


It just means I am more interested in getting shit done that aligns with my values, goals, and needs than dwelling or day dreaming without consideration for action or growth


Naturally this all also means I have no choice but to make time for self-care & personal development in my daily life


If I can’t look out for my needs while living and building the life I love then how can I expect to do it as this life evolves and my dreams grow?

What Does Food Freedom Mean to You? Exploring Food through Senses

What does food freedom mean to you?

Sometimes my diet is a strict meal plan & weighing everything or some macro swaps or intuition or a strategic manipulation of intake or daily chocolate supplementation or intuitive meals or indulgent experiences

But to me, food freedom is not about what diet you are or are not on or what you do or do not eat or what cultural or social movement you do or do not subscribe to

It is about making choices that feel best to you, align you with your goals & needs on every level, and feeling empowered with peace of mind regardless

Food freedom is not found in the freedom to eat any & all foods but rather the freedom of being at peace with the foods you choose to eat

Eating with;

•Enjoyment & intention

•Peace of mind & a free spirit

•Conscious commitment to goals & experiences

•Consideration for tastes, textures, & the nutritional benefits every food can deliver

•A quiet mind & calm energy

To eat with enough attachment to enjoy & be mindful but also enough detachment so as to not obsess over or diminish the experience

Eating is not just about fueling the body to me

It is about fueling the experiences, sensations, needs, energies, & life we choose to live

Food tastes so much better when we intend to honor, appreciate, & indulge in it for its richness & the many ways it contributes to our life & our goals & our human experience

I am so passionate about helping others develop a healthy relationship with food & I believe part of that comes with truly connecting with food

So I’ve decided to host a Virtual live event, Satiation through the Senses, where I will be guiding you through an intimate practice with food that will transform the way you see, think about, & enjoy food

You Can't Sustain this Lifestyle or Any Diet Without Enjoyment

Enjoying the food you eat is hands down 1 of the most important factors to longevity in bodybuilding

This doesn’t mean every meal or food has to be something extravagant but we can treat every meal extravagantly by connecting it to our needs & goals

I know, I know I’ve heard it all too:
  • “prep is supposed to suck“
  • “you can’t trust labels”
  • “if you don’t track everything you eat then don’t expect to xyz”
  • “tracking everything is disordered”
  • “eating whole foods is superior”
  • “suck it up”
  • “you shouldn’t want those foods anyways”
  • “__tastes like 3rd callouts”
  • “you’re weak minded if you ___”
  • “iifym should be the only way”
  • “meal plans are the key”
  • “you’ll need to put that food to use!”

*insert all the other thoughts, discussions, or should based mentalities infiltrating the industry for years to convince you to buy into one way or one community*

We can take the negative message OR We can choose to take from this that doing what’s best for you & what you enjoy really is the key to success in this sport

Look at your Olympians, look at the champs who have won consecutively, look at those who've stopped competing yet still live the lifestyle

CONSISTENCY & SELF-AWARENESS are 2 things they have in common

They’ve found what works for them, they enjoy it, they know what living the lifestyle means for them, & so they've been able to sustain it or they’ve been comfortable making changes so they could

Many of them have their own; approach, views, food beliefs, process for prep & improvement season, & mental outlook on the sport

Rather than questioning if you’re doing the “right” thing, focus on if you’re doing the sustainable thing

I personally had to shed many of my beliefs around “right” or “wrong” to reach the mental, emotional, & physical alignment I have now

When I am challenged by those old thoughts, I remind myself the judgement will exist everywhere but the verdict is in my hands & being influenced by external sources would deem me incompetent of creating my life sentence 😉

Bringing Mindfulness to Competition Prep

Many competitors deny their body of any communication, respect, honoring, or loving by just going on autopilot following a plan or neglecting to bring any level of mindfulness to their programming

But this generally leads to going through the motions which means being less intentional and of course connected during training, meals, & even posing presentation

This weakens your work ethic, understanding of your body’s needs long-term (goodbye to any longevity in the sport), connection to your deeper why, and ability to perform at your best

Being mindful during prep and improvement season isn’t just about peace of mind or stress reduction...

It’s about being present enough in every action you take to truly become the ELITE athlete you are striving to be

"Self-Love is the Best Anti-Depressant" Carley Opens up About Her Journey

Carley recently completed my Food Relationship Healing and Discovery Coaching Program and vulnerably opened up to tell her story in hopes of inspiring others who may relate...

Carley reached out to me 2 weeks after being on lockdown and having completely lost control of her commitment to nutrition and training leading to a 20-25LBS weight gain in 2 weeks

But this was not the problem she needed support with. She reached out to me realizing she had an issue with her relationship with food and her body. She had also been using the gym as a distraction from her relationship ending back in January so when the gyms closed her depression skyrocketed leaving her feeling even more hopeless.

She talks about these experiences and what it was like to start working together. Carley talks about how we started focusing on her getting comfortable around all food again without overwhelming anxiety or discomfort when it came to nourishing her body.

It didn't take long for Carley to see the work we were doing was more than just being comfortable around a piece of cake or an oreo as she said. She shares how much we focused on emotions and how her emotions were driving her decisions as well as where they were coming from.

We also did work around her body image in which we detached her from her body to see the body as a separate entity which she says made a huge impact on her discovering how to be her own best friend, love herself, be comfortable alone, and not need the gym as a distraction but rather as one of many ways to love herself.

When she said it was the"MOST LIFE CHANGING MONTH I HAVE EVER HAD" I gotta be honest, I felt soooo overwhelmed with joy because I LOVED working with Carley. Her committed spirit and leave nothing on the table attitude is what truly led to her success in our work together. Like many of my clients she came to me for help with her relationship with food to end the binging and the negative choices and constant self loathing and left with even more than she expected because she went all in with me!

Carley talks about the impact of this program on her life and relationships as she talks about how it helped her to let of toxic relationships, find self love and self respect and ultimately even attract a man who she believes is perfect for her!. PLUS she became her own closest friend in her rediscovery of who she is.

Carley emphasizes that this program really goes well beyond surface level issues presenting as food, which is rarely the issue, and opens up opportunities to understand, care for, and find love for yourself. 

Of course, you must be willing to go into parts of you and your life that may be painful but she says it was life changing and goes on to express that she recommends it to anyone who is struggling, not just with food but in anything because of my commitment to guiding and supporting you as someone you can trust while also empowering and encouraging you to commit to the work necessary to see that "self-love is the best anti-depressant".

Healthy Relationships are a Team Effort

My boyfriend, Robbie, has shown me unconditional true love & I have not always been perfect nor will I ever be

I’ve had high & unfair expectations

I’ve projected

I’ve questioned us without objective & complete consideration

I haven’t always felt worthy of his incredible love or like I deserved to be seen the way he sees me

But he has supported & loved me in ways that has allowed me to grow

As an individual & a partner

I have made conscious efforts to focus internally on areas I knew needed more TLC so that we could be better & I could support that

Having a relationship with someone who has been with me through some of the most challenging & also fulfilling times in my life is precious

There are no words that could really depict what growing through life with him has been like but I am grateful, at peace & proud of our love

I am learning to let go & have faith & genuinely embrace the love as it is with less judgement & criticism

I’m a work in progress & so is he but we are in it together & I truly believe our relationship is so strong because we cannot be broken & we love each other so damn much

I’m grateful for him & the life we‘re building together

I’m forgiving myself for moments of weakness or doubt or frustration & moving forward in pure love & intention on cherishing this man & all that we have

I share this quite vulnerably in hopes to inspire you to see that love exists, it truly is patient and kind and unwaivering, & it does take work

But not grueling work

More like, mutual commitment out of respect & appreciation that sometimes brings up emotions, pain, compromise, or confusion

But at the end of the day, you can & will find the person you want to be with and when you do, I urge you to focus more on what it brings you than taking it for granted or never seeing it for its full epicness—warts n all

Even though Robbie & I aren’t “perfect” I do believe we are perfect for each other & being perfect would not have allowed us to grow as in love as we are

Committing & loving oneself can open the door to deeper commitment & love in a relationship & the opposite is true

6 Ways to Set the Tone for a Successful Day

Goodmorning!🤩 I was so full of gratitude and excitement for the day this morning that I wanted to share these tactics I use to make my days go successfully with you!

Save it for tomorrow or try it now 😊

You might find that it is not so much about “what” you achieve that makes you go ‘today was successful’ but more so about feelings and commitments!

Or maybe it is about knocking things off your to do list

Getting clear on how you want to feel first and foremost can allow you to let go of any attachment to the outcome and be grateful for the process or how you handled things throughout the day

When you do something first thing In the morning it’ll set the tone for the day too so be mindful!

If you don't want to feel drained of all your energy at the end of the day you may not want to start your day on social media but rather on an awesome walk or doing breathwork or a meditation

If you want to have a productive day you might start off with a couple super easy peasy things just to get the momentum of getting things done!

The key in a successful morning is aligning your energy with that of your ideal self

Getting too caught up in the “how” might hold you back from the possibilities and opportunities that make your life even more fulfilling or process a bit more seamless!

If you say “I want to be proud of my decisions today” you bring a different energy to your choices than if you said “I won’t do x y z and I will punish myself if I do with a b c”

Specifics are good, but only to a point so again set some non-negotiables but remain open to the energy you want to feel when your head hits the pillow again 🙂

Of course there are many ways you can set yourself up for success but doing one or any of these can be a great lil kickstart😊

If Your Body Could Talk She Wouldn't Say This

If your body could talk what would she say to you?

I’m sure the wouldn’t want to be covered up by the pool when she could be soaking in the sunshine

I’m sure she wouldn’t want you to stay in because you’re too nervous to go on your date when she could feel the embrace of a new hug & awkward flutters

I doubt she would want you to sit around doing nothing all day when she was built to move

I think she would encourage you to be mindful in your choices so she could function optimally

I don’t believe she’d tell you to give up all the foods, activities, or movement that brings you joy in exchange for a slightly different shaped version of her when she just wants to support you in the long run

I suspect she would be hurt by the way you speak to her in the mirror and about her to others when she doesn’t understand given all the ways she works for you

I am pretty certain she’d be quicker to turn off external sources for feedback as she craves no validation but rather respect

I assume she would be eager to rest despite you feeling like you can’t give yourself a break because of your fears when she actually knows it’s exactly what you need

I am almost positive that instead of being filled to the brim with food that she hasn’t sorted or digested in awhile she would rather have consistent variety and enjoyment of all textures, flavors, & nutrient as well as life value

I don’t think she’d tell you you suck because of the way she is shaped when her only purpose is to transport your soul through its unique human experience making cellulite, stretch marks, or a little extra fat arbitrary compared to conquering your life dreams & living out your purpose

If I really had to guess, I bet your body would encourage you to BUILD MORE THAN JUST A BODY by emphasizing inner work as an integral part of obtaining results since she knows peace of mind equates to a more fulfilling life through any & all goals

How I am Focusing on Prep Goals Through a Global Pandemic & Uncertainty

2020 has really reinforced the whole “the journey is better than the destination” idea
Am I right or am I right?😅

Haven’t shared prep plans because they keep changing. And that’s the name of the game this year honestly


But I’m truly letting go and trusting that everything is working out with perfect timing

BUT maybe if I share what show I’m doing then the universe will grant my wish and keep it on the calendar!!!!!

First...lemme share how this season has looked

April 2019 started slow pre-prep program

Around September October we got more serious with full prep plan

Committed to April 4th Grand Prix being my first show

Postponed right after gyms were closed down—double whammy

It’s fine, on to battle in the desert

Postponed

Ok all good we just keep rollin with a mini reverse and see what happens

Gyms opened a show happens awesome we will pick up with prep into Tahoe show

Postponed

Alright lollllll what are my options

Let’s do patriots

Patriots postponed

BUT I HAVE HOPE AND I AM GOING TO KEEP PUSHING FOR IT

I am prepping for a show on August 29th and after speaking with their staff I’m super hopeful I’ll see the stage🤞🏻 (unless coach tells me otherwise of course!)

TRUST ME WHEN I SAY I WILL SAVOR EVERY MOMENT


I miss it, I took time off to build for this, I’ve been persistent for it, I’m going and getting that NQ with the best physique I’ve ever brought & the strangest yet so far most successful and sustainable approach to prep ever lol
