BEWARE!! That fit girl/guy you follow on Instagram could be promoting something TOTALLY destructive...
ARE CHEAT DAYS/MEALS ACTUALLY ‘GOOD’ FOR YOU? I gotta be honest, I used to think having a cheat day once a week was the way to go. I even had coaches tell me that was the only way I’d be successful. Every day on instagram, my feed and explore page is filled with people having these ‘EPIC CHEAT MEALS’ with enough food to feed a small village. Most diets out there in general teaching people that you get one day to splurge and cheat on your diet. (Many people who are coaching others online and selling transformations are selling eating disorders without consciously knowing it and unable to warn their clients *sigh*) I have been through this myself at the start of my own journey but since it was the only coaching i had received i didn’t know any better and i trusted her because she is so fit and looked amazing But why have we accepted this form of disordered eating as normal? As a society we have actually accepted a psychological dilemma and eating disorder as a norm because the people who have it and abide by it look fit and healthy and sexy which are desired outcomes many of us want. But trust me when I say, the damage isn’t worth it. Not only is it rough on your body, but it’s extremely rough on your mind If you want to live a healthy, freeing, empowered, and SUSTAINABLE lifestyle then WHY WOULD YOU RESTRICT YOURSELF ALL WEEK? No wonder you find yourself binging or gorging on food the second you get the chance to. What if you actually had that chocolate when you wanted it on Tuesday? Then maybe you wouldn’t be stuffing your face on Saturday until your body screams at you and your bloated and full and have a tummy ache and can’t sit comfortably. Only to wake up the next day and feel like you have to do extra cardio...WHICH IS A FORM OF BINGING AND PURGING BY THE WAY! It makes me sad to think of how much I used to actually fear food, restrict food, and then binge on food one day a week and how I would justify such behavior because it ‘is my cheat day’. We need to STOP preaching this form of ‘lifestyle’ without first addressing what people really need and desire which is love for their body and freedom in their skin. We have to establish a deep self love so that you feel naturally inspired to fuel your body and move your body with love! Then, it’s a no brainer when it comes to having a lifestyle like this—it just flows with ease. No restriction necessary. While there are scientific ways to utilize an increase in food in ones diet to influence the body to actually burn more efficiently...the way most of these lifestyles are being lived are not for strategic purposes and for that reason I’m calling BS on it.
