![]() If you have the opportunity everyday to grow and be better, do you consciously seize it or unconsciously avoid it? I listen to people talk all day about their goals, I LOVE hearing them. But I can also very quickly pick up on BS because when people tell me WHY they have NOT yet gotten where they want to be for whatever reason, usually I can pinpoint where this has happened subconsciously. Example: "I want to burn fat and gain muscle and fall in love with my body so I can actually feel comfortable in it and wear what I want or present myself in a way that makes me feel like my outside represents who I am inside. BUT my family has always been overweight and struggled with their health so it seems pointless to even try anymore. All the diets I've done and plans I've followed never work anyways." WHAT THIS ACTUALLY MEANS: I don't fully believe or trust my ability to get the results I want nor do I believe there is something that will work for ME bc I'm different and because I think that I am unworthy of these results I am going to convince myself it's for these reasons when the truth is I've never done a diet that fits my lifestyle well or fulfills me and I've never worked out in a way that I feel is progressive or sustainable therefore it is easier for me to fall off track and quit. HOW TO SOLVE: realize the true underlying beliefs and reasons for not having yet achieved your "desired" goals. Take new actions that are DIFFERENT than past attempts and actually FULFILL you. Remember that this is not about arriving at a 'desired place' but rather about achieving patterns of consistency and ease. REMEMBER: things which feel good and support you will be easier to maintain and continue than things that make you feel bad, weak, controlled, or helpless. Do the things that progress with you and challenge you to grow while still fulfilling and empowering you. There's a difference between SUPPORTIVE AND FULFILLING GROWTH and PUNISHING AND SHAMEFUL GROWTH. By the way, you can be doing the RIGHT thing for your goals and body and still get NOWHERE because you don't believe it enough to capitalize on results or you don't believe it enough to truly embody this identity therefore it will never feel like you are winning or progressing therefore missing the mark all together. Lifestyle change is meant to be fulfilling and inspiring NOT something that brings you down.
