![]() What do you do when you’re not in competition prep; 1 day a week/weekend of free eating, 1 meal every couple days, 1 meal, or little bites/pieces of things through the week? Inspired by recent convos on this topic! Personally I’m a VERY structured, regimented, disciplined person. I love this about myself. But I also recognize that I do much better if I can have a few chocolate chips on my hulk waffles every day or have some coffee creamer in my warm decaf in the morning. I used to live the restrict all week & binge on one day of the weekend but it stopped working for my body & me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mentally, I found myself getting into a really unhealthy relationship w/ food. Don’t get me wrong, not everyone goes through this! But for me, I did. Granted I can go 17+ weeks straight no refeeds, no cheats, not even bites or licks of anything & be fine. But if I’m not prepping for a show I set new intentions for my health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If I do end up having a celebration on the weekend, then my body just will not want as many things through the week anyways so it naturally just wants more or less food as I feed it & i honoring those cues(what a concept!). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The point I’m getting at is, we have to find what’s best for ourselves & KEEP experimenting as we evolve. My body physically rejects huge meals of indulgences; giving me signs like bloating or PAIN-whole body feels like a bruise to the touch, So I couldn’t do that to myself anymore & if I do, I feel like I’ve done myself wrong, not from guilt but bc I caused my vehicle so much pain! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s important to keep retesting & listening to how your mind responds & also how your body handles the decisions. Mixing it up & finding what works for YOU is most important. There’s no eating habit that will make you a ‘better’ or ‘worse’ person than someone else; that is determined by your character & heart alone. How you feel & function matters most, so don’t judge yourself by comparison to others. If a habit is helping you or them feel their healthiest from a genuine loving place for their body, then GOOD! Let’s support that! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What works for you? Thoughts on ‘diet culture’?
