![]() The All In approach took stride when a well known influencer documented her journey with it. The beautiful thing about that is she showed people it’s not always glamorous for the ‘fit & healthy’ people on the internet and sometimes those that appear to be the healthiest have a lot more going on under the surface. But the all in approach itself isn’t my favorite thing to promote or recommend or even entertain with the athletes I help in their relationship with food & their body. I can see the value in normalizing all food, learning hunger & fullness cues by just honoring whatever feels right whenever, and putting yourself into a position where you have no choice but to see body change and live in it. But In my experience, there are better ways. Have you ever stopped to consider why this may not be the best approach for the fitness community? At least for a physique athlete who has gone to more extreme measures to get results? The problem is, when a person has formed an association that extreme = results, I believe the last thing we need to do or should do is replace those extremes with more. In other words, I think the all in approach reinforces that in order to get any result, the approach has to be extreme & unsustainable. The All in approach intention is that things will eventually balance out to a set point, which is a nice intention but if you’re wanting to compete or continue competing it may not be the best move for your next improvement season. I honestly see this as another honest attempt that just doesn’t hit the mark in supporting an athlete on an individual level with consideration for everything they are & want to be or do. I also struggle with the thought that going all in means listening to your body & letting things do what they’re meant to and trusting your body will take care of it....shouldn’t we be living like that regardless?? & when did we decide we couldn’t learn to honor our body when we are physique athletes? You won’t find perfection but also know that you don’t have to go “all in”. It’s not the only way to find peace & it’s important to question various methods so you can come to a better conclusion for your own experiment.
