NEVER HELPLESS. NEVER HOPELESS.
FIGHTING HEROINE ADDICTIONS...

With The Jeremy Castro Foundation

In 2017, I woke up to the horrific and devastating news of the passing of a friend, active EMT, brother and son, Jeremy Castro

I was in honest disbelief and shock. I didn’t think there’d ever be a day where his face just wouldn’t be around anymore

A lot of people write off drug users or addicts as people who are useless and have no hope...

I never saw Jeremy as ‘an addict’, I always remembered him being so nice when I saw him, fun to be around, and ready to help.

He even worked as the trainer at the local YMCA which I eventually began working at too.

Everyone there would ask me about him, and talk about how much they missed him working there, and they really loved him.

I still remember the last time I saw him, it was at another gym and he was still his kind and hard working self.

I may not have many memories with him but the ones I do have are all positive.

There’s so much you want to say to the family when they are grieving but I know the Castros, and they’ve always been STRONG PEOPLE.

They have now created a foundation in his honor.

They work day in and day out to be the judgement free source for addicts and the education provider for others.

Releasing the stigma or the belief that addiction is only present in ‘bad’ neighborhoods with ‘bad’ people.

I am posting this today because even if drug abuse doesn’t touch you or your family; you can still help.

In 2019 they will be starting up Sober Saturdays to have fun events, games, or gatherings to support the cause.

They just got added into amazon smile as a charity which can be donated to with every purchase.

And they have big plans for the future. I’m even thinking we gotta get a fitness event going in his honor.

Please follow them so when they post about events or opportunities to help you can share it or even get involved yourself.

You can even buy one of these shirts or sweatshirts today too. Look at their social media or website for info

It’s seriously so soft and comfy and the tee is a v-neck w a flattering fit 😍

If you can’t help monetarily, please share to raise awareness. Please visit their website to see how you can get involved.
Thank you❤️

Celeste,
Thank you for sharing this. I'm so sorry for your loss. My brother is an active EMT, and volunteers at our local fire department.. He has responded and been at the scene of calls for heroin overdoses. I've lost 2 of my friends this year within a 3 month period due to a drug overdose. I feel for their families. The disease of addiction does not discriminate and can happen to anyone. My goal for 2019 is to begin publishing blog articles on my website, once I hire a web designer by the end of this year to help me create and design my site to reflect my brand. I want recovering addicts to know that they are not alone. I also want families of addicts to know that they are not alone in their struggles. I've experienced both sides of addiction - Being an addict in active addiction, feeling lost and hopeless, asking for help and fighting my way back up out of that hell of a lifestyle. And, today being clean in recovery for 2+ years and having a loved one suffering from addiction. Besides the loss of my 2 friends this year, I was also faced with devastating news about my ex boyfriend who I spent 6 years of my life with. He switched addictions to alcohol and has developed alcohol cirrhosis of his liver. I have exhausted my efforts this year several times that he has called me asking me for my help. In recovery and applying spiritual principles to my life - It helps me to stay clean by carrying the message to the addict who still suffers. I've drove 2 hours away out of state to his home to rush him to emergency rooms 3 times this year. He tries and he keeps going back to what is killing him. There is a lot more to this story but I'll just end with this - Seeing him the way he is now has shattered my heart to pieces and I feel for his family too. The life I shared with him - He taught me so much good. He has a big heart, He is so brave, strong, caring, giving, loyal, talented. Sadly, the disease of alcoholism has turned him into someone else, completely taking over his mind, body and soul. I pray for him daily. I feel called, It is my purpose to spread light on the horrible disease by sharing my story to bring inspiring messages of hope to anyone who is suffering in silence. I will visit your friend Jeremy's website and share any articles to raise awareness. I would love to get involved and support anyone who has lost a loved one, has a loved one who is currently suffering, and provide support for addicts - showing them that they can re build their life. Sending you all my love.
Lucille
