Surface level growth isn’t always indicative of inner growth.
Sometimes it can be a result of avoidance or resistance to focusing on other things. There are times where external growth is indicative of inner growth too, of course. I’ve personally decided that any growth, mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, occupational, interpersonal, etc is best when done with inner peace. Since growth isn’t usually comfortable and can sometimes feel like a big mess, I remind myself in those times of how the commitment I’m making is aligned with my values and why it is important beyond what is tangible. I don’t see parts of bodybuilding as “suffering” when I know that it is supporting me in having freedom with my body, impact through the platform, and love through nourishment as well as love through connection to my body and to others. Studying for an exam is something I might have a lot of resistance to at first but I remind myself of the impact I want to and am making in the communities I serve and the commitment to having the freedom to pursue what I love to do (love being another value). Can you see the trend? And if I ever think about giving something up, I make the next thing I do equally as challenging to me in some way so I can be sure that I am not quitting or stepping away because it is “too hard” but rather because it truly doesn’t align with me and my values anymore. This is how I prevent justifying negative actions too. All my programs are backed with my peace through growth process as any season of life offers an opportunity to grow but the way we experience and perceive it is what will determine how fulfilling and empowering it really is for us and if we will be able to grasp the lessons and insights it can serve us with. #BUILDMORETHANJUSTABODY
