SEXY BACK! Upper Body Exercise! [video + how to] Here's how to do one of the best workouts for your next upper body day!

CLOSE GRIP LAT PULL DOWNS USING CABLE AND ROPE. Great for lower portion of lats, middle trap, and your rear delt (though main focus should be on using lats and the middle part of back to contract through movement)

This is my latest favorite way to do close grip lat pull downs. Let me know how it feels when you try this!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Close grip lat pull downs allow you to have a greater range of motion with the elbows meaning you can go further down and back allowing the lower traps to engage too (the muscles that look super sexy coming from the spine up and out toward the rear delt-Swipe for a pic of me showing where)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The key here is to think about the full stretch as a relaxation for the muscles without disengaging them fully. What that means is you have to consciously think about the movement the whole time. So through the stretch, picture your muscle fibers actually opening up/ literally elongating like a rubber band about to snap, then when you pull down imagine it's the 'snap' portion but do this methodically by allowing the muscle fibers to FIRE and do their job by imagining them turning red to activate!

When you get to the fullest point of contraction you should be squeezing through your mid lower back and tucking your lats like wings! (this movement it is happening right above the chest). It helps to have a slight lean back when you begin the concentric portion of the movement (see me do this in video)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also, make sure you are remembering to keep your shoulders pulled back and down DO NOT LET THEM KISS YOUR EARS! Pulling them back and down will not only keep your body in a healthy position but it will also lead to recruitment of the proper muscles for this movement. Which could mean the difference between your back working the most and your shoulders taking over.
