[THAT'S NOT LOVE] My issues with the Body Positive Movement and how it is affecting a lot of people
[THAT'S NOT LOVE]
Something has been weighing on my heart and I need to release it.
May ruffle some feathers but in my heart I know someone somewhere needs to read this and will appreciate my honesty.
It's about the #bodypositive movement...
I've been seeing a lot of posts lately where women are discussing their new found love for their bodies (of course some men too).
I get sooo excited and happy and warm and fuzzy when I hear people talking about HOW MUCH they love their body! Until I continue reading or seeing what they're up to and I learn, it's not real love...
What I'm finding is that so many people are okay with where they are at without any desire to better themselves anymore because "I love my body now so it's perfect exactly as it is". I'm sorry buttttttt this is just a great cover, a beautiful sounding excuse to stay where you are or quite frankly, get worse.
What do I mean? I mean, there are women, extremely overweight, underweight, or just downright unhealthy being 'in love' with their bodies after 'hating' it for so long.
I'm sorry, but what does that even mean at this point? You 'love' your body? Please ask yourself what love truly means to you. Because this ain't love.
If you truly loved your body you would make a point to be healthier and more fit so your soul could live in a safe house and thrive...
If you truly loved your body you would respect it by fueling it properly and conditioning it to perform more confidently...
If you truly loved your body you would recognize the fact that your current condition is not actually what you deserve, and you actually deserve better...
If you truly loved your body you would understand its ins and outs and then do everything in your power with your circumstance to find your balance, health, wellbeing, and life...
If you truly loved your body, you'd love it enough to change...
So consider this,
Love and appreciate your body, in all its forms, but also love it enough to recognize where it needs to be, and where it needs to change, to thrive and serve YOU and YOUR SOUL at the highest level.
Building More Than Just a Body is NEVER about neglecting the body. It is about CARING for the body by focusing on the whole spirit of the journey without being wrapped up on the outer image.
It's about focusing on your best confidence, self love, success, mindset, behavior, habits, wellbeing and more and then aligning that powerful inner work with the physical result driven by the root of improved health, daily living, performance, nutrition, and exercise.
So while I agree it's not about having the 'perfect body' that does NOT mean you allow your body to serve you imperfectly.
It's not the image that matters or the shape that I care about as much as it is YOU, YOUR SOUL HOUSE, and YOUR LIFE.
Often times the shape and image follows. The body is the bonus, it's the result of truly loving your body enough to give it the attention, love, and care it deserves.
Your self love, self confidence, and self worth goes up when you show yourself love, show yourself worth, and do it confidently knowing that your best self is already within you and all you have left to do is release her.
So, release her.
