If you are anything like me, when you realize you want something, you start researching how to get it.
If you are anything like me, you also know how frustrating it can be when you only get half the puzzle solved even after looking in over 20 different places.
I remember starting my fitness journey and being a total pinterest addict.
I thought that all those workouts, recipes, challenges, and infographics would be exactly what I needed to get started—Until it wasn’t.
So I went to YouTube and discovered some amazing channels with workouts that I followed everyday from my home, yep, I wasn’t a gym rat quite yet—but still, something wasn’t right.
I never felt like the videos ‘got’ me.
Not to mention I was constantly questioning if I was doing the right thing for myself and Google wasn’t really clearing anything up for me.
-Would this sugar free cookie dough actually satisfy my craving?
-Would drinking water with fruit inside of it really make me less hungry?
-Were any of these workouts created with my goals of fat loss and lean muscle building kept in mind or is it just nice click bait?
-Could walking a certain amount of steps Reallllllly change my life?
-Would waking up at 5 make me more productive?
-Could I really get the body of my dreams with that one simple trick? (lol)
Given my (multiple) frustrations and continuous struggle I took matters into my own hands.
“Uh oh” you might be thinking.
But this story actually has a nice twist and I share some of my most vulnerable transformations.
Despite treating myself like a guinea pig for a few years and hiring a top influencer trainer, then getting inspired to become a Certified Personal Trainer so I could help others on their journey, and my achieving a much leaner, more fit physique, I actually never felt fully satisfied, WHHAATT?
Yep, here’s the truth bomb for ya; I knew that despite the physical changes, my inner changes were minimal, and let’s be real me being unhappy with the way I looked and felt about my body was independent of the size and shape of my body.
At this point I learned that the real reason I felt so down about myself was because I just didn’t have the self-love or confidence within me to own it, even with the results I was getting.
So, I became relentless with my inner game.
I read, I studied, I learned, I hired top mentors, and I educated myself on what it took and I used trial and error to really cut through the confusion.
While I was eating healthy and working out I was also realizing so many unhealthy habits and relationships I had developed along the way.
I understood why the action was never going to be enough.
I noted that my actions were a cover for my inner pain and struggle. Rather than a reflection of self-love.
Soon, that all changed.
Okay, no I didn’t become invincible (sorry the story isn’t THAT cool)
But I sure felt invincible.
Here's just a glimpse of what has shifted for me;
-My depression stopped running a dic(k)tatorship in my mind.
-My anxiety chilled out and I stopped seeing things in paranoia.
-My body image actually was no longer dysmorphic like some fun house mirror.
-My obsession with every bite of food was liberated to a state of peace.
-My mindset began generating success in all areas of my life.
-My internal voice became that super cool empowering friend that we all love and is such a badass that even just one thing she says can get you going 0-60 even when you feel like you have nothing in the tank.
Oh, and not to mention my body was still developing the way I hoped, lean muscle, lower body fat percentage, and much more strength.
