Win without Winning

There are other ways to win outside of achieving your desired outcome

It definitely can suck to not get the result you thought you would or worked so hard for but if that’s all you’re in it for, you’ll probably quit prematurely

What if the real win was the effort you put in, lessons you learned, feedback given to improve, or the breakthroughs you had of what you believe you’re capable of?

I remember standing backstage at this show, lined up and ready to walk out. I got teary eyed thinking of all I went through while working to step on stage with a new best

I was going through a breakup that was causing major mental stress & triggering past traumas as well as initiating closure & intensive grieving

I had just completed my internship program, masters degree in clinical mental health counseling, & passed my national counselor exam

I was gearing up to run an event every month for the rest of the year and continue to expand my business and the opportunities were flowing

I had thought about how I had yet to feel my momma on stage next to me, so many people told me I would but I never did and yet I felt she instilled so much spirit in me and despite her death that meant she could no longer attend every show I held on to the belief she always had in me

I had such an intense prep that demanded a lot of me too and was coming up on almost a full year of living in a new state and prepping

I felt like a true champion for myself and my dreams when I thought about this journey in that moment before my heel hit the stage (IYKYK 🎙️😉)

I didn’t walk off with a placing I expected but I got what I rightfully earned and deserved that day

I made amazing memories at that show with my incredible team @seeyoulaterleaner who let me stay with him in Vegas the week leading into this show & before North Americans the following week which meant so much to me given the stress I was under at home

I may not have placed how I wanted but I won in many ways

These experiences & the lessons learned are molding me more as a woman, athlete, advocate, mentor, & leader

I hope for all competitors to not just celebrate trophies & titles but also what we gain when we #BUILDMORETHANJUSTABODY
