![]() YOUR GENETICS DIDN’T FORCE YOU TO PUT THE DAMN COOKIE IN YOUR MOUTH. Warning; this post may come across as harsh to those of you who are not actually ready to take full responsibility for your life... ...but if you’re someone who is committed to their growth, personal development, and improving your health then this just might be the post you need today. I hear things like this all the time; —“My genetics are so bad, everyone in my family struggles to lose weight or is over weight” —“My body’s metabolism is so slow, I can’t help it, I look at cake and it puts fat on my thighs, meanwhile that gal can just eat whatever she wants and be fine” —“Everyone in my family has gotten diabetes or *insert other obesity caused diseases here* so I am much more prone to it” —“My mom struggles with weight loss her whole life” —“My Parents never had much muscle mass anyways” Believe it or not, the list goes on. Now you might be triggered by this, and thinking.... “WELL MY FAMILY ACTUALLY DOES SO BLEH ON YOU CELESTE YOU JUST DONT GET IT” I actually do. I really ‘get it’. And I ask that you read this before making assumptions. Some people, no matter how healthy they are, will unfortunately suffer some serious health conditions. BUT THAT IS NOT WHO I AM WRITING THIS FOR. This is to the people who CHOOSE to fill their bodies with unhealthy, processed crap, CONSISTENTLY (here and there won’t kill you or keep you from achieving goals when done strategically) AND STILL BLAME THEIR GENETICS FOR THEIR OBESITY or INABILITY TO LOSE WEIGHT. This is for the people who CHOOSE to skip meals and STILL blame their ‘BAD METABOLISM’ on their genetics. This is to the people who CHOOSE not to move their bodies and STILL think the only reason they might have heart disease is because their whole family did! YET, if you look at the consistent patterns, their whole family has poor lifestyle choices, eats like crap, and doesn’t move much. THESE are the people I’m talking to. Yes. Eat the cookie, enjoy the cake, indulge in the yummy creations of this earth and the people who live here. BUT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR CHOICES. Let’s put it simply, if you REALLY wanted to Burn fat, gain lean muscle, or change your body and health in any way and you have no medical conditions that are really truly inhibiting you from doing so at a potentially normal rate, then you ABSOLUTELY CAN! YOU AND YOUR CHOICES ARE THE CAUSE OF YOUR ‘PROBLEM’ in accomplishing said goals. Sure, I’m not going to deny that genetics do play a role in our body’s function, capabilities, tendencies, etc, but YOU CANNOT BLAME YOUR BODY FOR SOMETHING YOU DID TO IT. I have history in my own family. I also can see the patterns where that history lies. Much of which is lifestyle induced. I’m not blind to it and I CHOSE a different path for myself. YOU CAN TOO! Don’t let history be your excuse. Don’t let that be what sabotages you. Don’t let that be what manifests from your internal resistance to ACTUALLY having a healthy, fit, and happy body. Hold a mirror up to yourself, face yourself, ask what’s REALLY going on here and DIG DEEPER. If you are consciously making decisions that you and your body KNOW are not going to help you or be good for you then WHY not put the energy and effort into solving these inner workings of your mind? This goes so much deeper than just “stop doing that” though. I know that just ‘stopping’ or just ‘seeing the problem for what it really is’ isn’t enough. You need to be able to heal your mind, transform your thinking, change your beliefs about yourself and your body, and attach core values to your goals to even come close to seeing any form of change that is sustainable and feels good. Dropping the cookies ain’t going to help you either though. Sure, it’ll improve your health but at what point do you go crazy and have a binge fest again? The changes you make in your lifestyle should always come from a place of LOVE for your body knowing that by taking care of it you are really taking care of your SOULS vehicle through this physical experience as a human being. The changes you make therefore shouldn’t be in the energy of hate, restriction, deprivation, self loathing, etc. I love a good cookie. In fact, that’s one of my fav desserts. But I don’t eat them everyday. I can go months without putting anything with empty nutrition in my mouth and have no problems. And I can stop after I’ve enjoyed one. Because I love my body, I see it as the greatest asset to my soul and my experience on earth and I want to feel amazing in my body. What I’m getting at is this, —If you are overweight or carrying more fat than your body feels is necessary or you’re trying to gain muscle or strength or just have better health PLEASE KNOW THAT YOU CAN TRANSFORM YOUR BODY. —If you are a foodie and don’t want to give up foods but still want a better body PLEASE KNOW THAT YOU CAN FIND PEACE AND BALANCE WITH FOOD. —If you want to be healthier and feel amazing in your body knowing it is fully optimized, PLEASE KNOW THIS IS POSSIBLE FOR YOU AND ABOVE ALL THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE MEANT TO HAVE AND EMBODY, JUST BY LIVING, YOU HAVE EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE IN A BODY THAT SERVES YOUR SOUL AT A HIGH LEVEL. Your body will never transform if you continue to blame bad habits and self loathing behaviors on genetics or circumstances. Make a decision, do the inner work around shifting your identity, and fully own and take responsibility for every action you take with LOVE, INTENTION, and PURPOSE. I’ve been there, I’ve blamed my ‘body type’, I’ve envied others, I’ve wished for a ‘better metabolism’, I really have.
