The Confessions of a Bikini Pro Podcast was established in May of 2018 as the first and only place where IFBB Bikini Pros share their struggles, strategies, stories, insights, and advice in a real, raw, and vulnerable setting. Host, Celeste Rains-Turk, dives into the parts of these professionals' lives that aren't always openly discussed in the public eye or on social media (You know, the stuff we tend to wonder about the most).

The goal of this podcast is to educate, inspire, and remind other competitors, athletes, or the average gym goer that even the most elite professionals face hardships, health problems, mental obstacles, and other adversities.

There are a wide range of topics discussed including, but DEFINITELY NOT limited to; post-show rebound, health complications, eating disorders, mental illnesses, winning mindset, dealing with losses, judges feedback, approaches to the stage, life outside of competing, money, relationships, philosophy, pursuing passions, and SO MUCH MORE!

celeste on stage

comparison steals more than joy

June 03, 20252 min read

It’s easy to say “stay in your own lane,” but when you’re backstage surrounded by dozens of incredible physiques or scrolling social media flooded with highlight reels, that’s a lot easier said than done.

But here’s what I always come back to: comparison steals more than joy—it steals your presence.

When you’re focused on what she looks like, how lean she is, or what placing she got, you stop showing up for YOUR journey

Truthfully, someone else’s progress says absolutely nothing about your potential.

You’re not stepping on stage to prove you’re better than someone else

You’re stepping on stage to prove that you followed through, showed up for yourself, honored your goals, respected the process, and kept going—even when no one was watching or judging you

Here’s how I help my clients (& myself) compete without comparison:

1. Anchor into your values.
Placings come and go. Your purpose in this doesn’t. Whether it’s growth, healing, discipline, self-discovery, faith, freedom, your values are what will keep you grounded and executing for reasons beyond a placing

2. Celebrate
It’s okay to admire another athlete’s physique without making it mean something negative about yours. Use it for inspiration, not fuel for doubt or justification for quitting

3. Mind your inputs.
What you consume impacts how you feel. Curate your feed. Be mindful of anything leading you into self-doubt, and follow people who remind you of why you do this

4. Be where your feet are.
Comparison pulls you out of the moment. When you’re on stage, in the gym, or doing your check-ins—focus on that moment. Breathe, tune in, and remind yourself: this is my body, my journey, my season. One meal, one rep, one day at a time

5. Friendship
Make friends with the incredible women around you. They GET you! You want everyone to bring their best and supporting others in doing that is only going to make you feel even better in the moment. The memories made with others will be way more meaningful than anything else! I got to share the stage with all these women back to back & they each made the experience better!
