The Confessions of a Bikini Pro Podcast was established in May of 2018 as the first and only place where IFBB Bikini Pros share their struggles, strategies, stories, insights, and advice in a real, raw, and vulnerable setting. Host, Celeste Rains-Turk, dives into the parts of these professionals' lives that aren't always openly discussed in the public eye or on social media (You know, the stuff we tend to wonder about the most).

The goal of this podcast is to educate, inspire, and remind other competitors, athletes, or the average gym goer that even the most elite professionals face hardships, health problems, mental obstacles, and other adversities.

There are a wide range of topics discussed including, but DEFINITELY NOT limited to; post-show rebound, health complications, eating disorders, mental illnesses, winning mindset, dealing with losses, judges feedback, approaches to the stage, life outside of competing, money, relationships, philosophy, pursuing passions, and SO MUCH MORE!

The Champion Mindset

July 28, 20252 min read

For competitors, eating & body image is undeniably intertwined

A healthy relationship with food can improve body image satisfaction & self-esteem, which is essential for bodybuilders

Researchers found that body acceptance can reduce the risk of disordered eating behaviors. Neumark-Sztainer et al.(2006) found that individuals who practiced body acceptance were less likely to engage in unhealthy eating patterns

This is particularly relevant for competitors who face pressure to maintain & build a specific physique

Kristeller&Wolever(2011) demonstrated that mindfulness-based interventions could reduce binge eating episodes & increase body satisfaction

I created my 1:1 food relationship program to foster a better relationship with food & your body with create new normals that support your success in competing w/o giving up your mental health

Improved body image can help break the cycle of self criticism & disordered eating

When you respect your body, you’re more likely to make food choices that enhance your efforts, rather than those driven by guilt or industry norms

Viewing food as multi beneficial nourishment rather than a source of guilt, anxiety or something that can NEVER be anything but fuel can change the game

As you become more mindful of your eating habits & practice self-compassion, your perception of your body improves

This then reinforces healthier eating behaviors & can lead to better training outcomes & overall longevity in this sport

Like a positive feedback loop that enhances your life as a whole & helps you to #BuildMoreThanJustaBody

This freedom allows you to focus more on your performance & other life areas; enabling you to live more presently in what you do or who you are with while pursuing Your goals

When you’re not weighed down by negative thoughts or disordered eating, you have more mental space to pursue other passions & goals, making life richer & more fulfilling

As a (newly retired) competitor & certified counselor, I help athletes achieve a helpful balance between body image & food relationship
