The Confessions of a Bikini Pro Podcast was established in May of 2018 as the first and only place where IFBB Bikini Pros share their struggles, strategies, stories, insights, and advice in a real, raw, and vulnerable setting. Host, Celeste Rains-Turk, dives into the parts of these professionals' lives that aren't always openly discussed in the public eye or on social media (You know, the stuff we tend to wonder about the most).

The goal of this podcast is to educate, inspire, and remind other competitors, athletes, or the average gym goer that even the most elite professionals face hardships, health problems, mental obstacles, and other adversities.

There are a wide range of topics discussed including, but DEFINITELY NOT limited to; post-show rebound, health complications, eating disorders, mental illnesses, winning mindset, dealing with losses, judges feedback, approaches to the stage, life outside of competing, money, relationships, philosophy, pursuing passions, and SO MUCH MORE!

Winning at your worst, losing at your best

February 03, 20262 min read

Would you rather lose at your best or win at your worst?

As a competitor sometimes that’s an even harder question to answer because we may not think our winning look is our best but the judges might

But what if it was more rooted in your best effort, focus, mindset, execution?

I’d rather walk on and off stage at my personal best in execution and physique than anything else

In 10 years of competing I won first place 2x. That’s it. Twice. Out of sixteen shows. Now to some you could just say damn you were not competitive and should have stopped competing and accepted you’re not good enough.

But to those of you who really get the sport, you know it goes a lot deeper than that. You can win one weekend and be dead last or at least a lot further the next.

This is a sport of comparison

But your effort, discipline, drive, and daily dedication is NOT comparable to anyone else on that stage

Most of us are the hardest worker to somebody. But the judges don’t know, and it’s not their job to try to figure out who “worked the hardest” who “dieted the best”. It can be a hard pill to swallow knowing someone who beats you could have been “less” disciplined

It just doesn’t matter. That’s bodybuilding. It’s the best physique matching the criteria that day

So why why why allow the outcome of that to dictate and determine your efforts or love of the game?

Comparison of physiques, yes part of how this works

But you personally need to execute day in and day out at your best so when judgment day (show day) comes, you are truly accepting of any outcome because you’re not just incredibly grateful that you can commit to and invest in a hobby like this but also that you gave it your all

Winning can be walking away with a trophy AND knowing you gave your all & brought your best. It can also just be knowing you gave your all & brought your best.

This is an incredible sport, But it’s not worth getting so sucked in that you forget who you are or what really matters in the pursuit

Be about the process & winning but also resilience & mental toughness that supports longevity

#BuildMoreThanJustaBodymental health support for competitors who want a champion mindset
