Choose Your Cheat Day

January 27, 20262 min read

I have been thinking a lot about some of the common mistakes I have seen over the last 8 years I have been supporting competitors in their relationship with food and their body and one of the things that has been repetitive and predictable is this mentality of all or nothing thinking

One of the things I have taught the majority of my clients is the same lesson that changed my own life and trajectory with food

It is better to have one mindful one now than 20 out of control ones later.

If you are the type to eat 1 then lose control & say f it already messed up let's eat the rest OR you are like well I had a great week eating all this now won't affect my check ins I will have a whole week to "make up for it", then this is for you to consider

You might want to demonize an oreo or nut butter or even a banana but when you do this you are creating hyperfixation on the food because you are giving it more power than it really deserves

The foods you "lose control" around, might even be your meal plan or normal day to day foods, in which case we are looking at other needs for potential normalization or change of thought processes

It can be scary to think about incorporating the foods you find "scary" or "triggering" or "off limits" but if you end up binging on them later then don't you think it is worth it?

I included the calorie perspective on the infographic in hopes of speaking to your fear of ruining your goals or your physique

One reese's cup a day is still 40% less caloric intake for your week than if you binge on a whole bag to "get rid of it" or "start over monday" or "restrict tomorrow"

This doesn't mean you should just start normalizing these foods on your own all at once or even at all

Some of my clients are not ready to start here because it is too high on the distress scale so we have to really consider your exposure hierarchy and work from there

If you want to be at peace around any and all foods without worrying about losing control then apply to work with me in my 1:1 in my Food Relationship Program that has been utilized by amateurs, pros, & non-competitors globally at: www.celestial.fit/foodfreedom
