f you keep eating distracted, your body will stop trying to talk to you.
And when it does, you’ll lose one of your greatest tools for transformation.
Competitors often track macros or follow a meal plan which can be GREAT for incurring results and building discipline
BUT it can stunt or impede on your natural ability to listen to and honor your body's natural cues
While we do not want to mistake 'listening' to your body for self-sabotage, it is important to note that many of us as athletes who have been doing this for awhile are more equipped than not to listen to our body BUT because we have become so accustomed to finishing what we macrod out on our plate or eating the whole meal at once because our meal plan calls for it; it can be harder to really trust when we feel like eating vs being full. The reliance on numbers is much more prominent than that of our own body.
- Your hunger cues? Confusing.
- Your fullness signals? Hard to Read.
- Your cravings? Loud.
Distracted eating isn’t harmless.
It trains your body to disconnect—making it harder to trust yourself around food, harder to regulate your emotions, and harder to see results.
You’re not just eating with the TV on.
You’re missing a chance to build or rebuild the relationship with the one thing you live in every day: your body.
For a full breakdown on how distraction at mealtime leads to dysfunction—and what to do about it; read the infographic :)
It may be worth noting I am not against eating a meal with tv or a movie or while distracted all the time. This is just to bring awareness to doing it ALL the time and forgetting to really be PRESENT in your body for the food you are nourishing it with
