Mindfulness allows us to eat to NOURISH instead of eating to eat.
Competing can often lead to eating on autopilot mode instead of with intention
Just because you pre-track your food or follow a meal plan doesn't mean you should disregard mindful eating
It is actually one of the main contributing factors to an unhealthy relationship with food that I see among the competitors I work with
The simple fact is, if you are always on 'tick the boxes mode' then the moment you are given a bit more freedom, flexibility, or leeway; you won't know what to do with it
Solely relying on numbers to tell you what and when to eat is not conducive to longevity with nourishing your body
Plus, with how often we eat as athletes, mindful eating is an awesome opportunity to reinforce the act of checking in with yourself and your choices which will then make it more habitual and a strong suit in other areas of life as you are literally strengthening that part of your brain engaging in decision making

Keys to Note:
- your body deserves your attention
- how you eat matters more than what you eat
- if you engage in a meal out of emotion, it doesn't matter what the meal is because you are still eating emotionally. it is more important to address emotional needs than to just 'eat something healthier'
- food eaten hastily won't digest as well anyways and therefore could impede on your progress
- people who say 'just get your meal in and move on' will likely be the same people who don't know what to do when they go out to eat and are presented with a slew of options or can't track something perfectly.
-disconnection will lead to discontentment
