5 easy things you can do to make your post-show experience more positive

September 08, 20252 min read

1) Have things lined up that you’re looking forward to such as a bike rental at a local spot or a spa day or a new hiking spot. Something active or recovery based. Bonus points if you plan it with a loved one

2) Incorporate / plan to incorporate foods and flavors you haven’t had in awhile into your macros or have a couple days of just trying to hit protein and calorie goals. It is better to do this than go from all to nothing. It’s OK to be in some of the grey area especially if it presents you from feeling absolutely awful

3) Instead of immediately planning the next show, set aside time to reflect on feedback, how your body and mind are doing, and being realistic about what will be demanded of you if you keep prepping

4) Unfollow foodie accounts and hide interest of these from your explore feed. It doesn’t and won’t help. While you’re at it, stop opening up everyone else’s stories to see how their post show is going in comparison to yours. Everyone’s different. And sometimes people won’t announce their next move or what’s guiding their decisions so why assume they’re set on the same thing as you? Plus things can change daily.

5) Make a list of commitments to yourself. Not rules. But commitments. Such as, “I am a person who respects her body enough to love it through nourishment, movement, and rest” or “I prioritize foods that make me feel my best and trust my ability to make decisions that are beneficial to my longevity”
