Can't Outwork a Bad Diet?

September 03, 20242 min read

You know how people say “you can’t outwork a bad diet”? Well, I think the real issue is the fact that we even think it would be nice if we could…

Hear me out… our body needs nourishment and love. Sometimes, we might not prioritize the most nutrient dense foods, but loving ourselves also means caring for ourselves

So why would we want to be able to eat whatever we could without aesthetic repercussions? Have we become so focused and fixated on how our body looks that we have dismissed how our body functions and feels?

It’s rampant in the fitness and competing world

To sacrifice health for aesthetics

There’s ways to approach things that are healthier than others. No approach will be perfect for everyone. And sometimes, you’re going to have to push and sacrifice some levels of your holistic health (all areas of life) to excel in others but the majority of your efforts should be creating a nice harmony among them all

If you place so much weight and value in how you look and you feel like you cannot achieve a healthy body and physique without “only eating clean” or “never eating xyz” then this is quite limited to

Why are we not asking ourselves what we value? What we desire? What we need? What will benefit us long term on every level?

To wish we could punish ourselves enough to eat anything or wish anything we ate didn’t affect our physique is a limited view on the blessing that is choice of food and nourishment on our journey to becoming our best

It took me time to release the attachment to “clean” eating and a moral hierarchy I associated with that due to judgment as well as the release of a physique being where I find value and others can in me
