If only we celebrated the dimples on our legs the way we celebrate the ripples in the water
Or appreciated the textures of our skin the way we appreciate a secluded path even if it’s rocky
Or see varying colors of the skin from our arms to our stomach or head to our toe the way we take in the colors of a sunset
What if we saw the scars on our body like the etchings of the Grand Canyon or our spidery veins the way we are in awe of veins on leaves?
If we’d embrace the natural curves of our breasts, glutes, elbows, knees, & lips the way we embrace the clouds in the sky changing in different perspectives & positions
Beyond the recognition of surface level relations, I aspire to see unique quirks or things about me the way I can appreciate the uniqueness of the world
I told myself it’d be so beautiful to spend time in Sedona & see new things. Then i started thinking & I actually wrote all of this before the shoot:
I am made new every day, perceived differently by everyone who sees me, fully appreciated by those who come to know me much like the nature I’m so excited to spend time in
No matter what comes of the photos today i want to try to see myself the way i see nature
To see the beauty every day brings & marvel at the magnificence of that uniqueness
To take in every angle created in shadows cast by the sun & to enjoy the unpredictability that is exciting & intriguing
To feel a grounding presence in the knowing that like ourselves, nature will never be seen the same way by everyone
To be able to experience a deep faith much like knowing the wind exists simply by the change in the air. & though you don’t see it all the time— you are strong in the same way
And accepting the impermanence of what is seen each day because a new light or boulder could change the whole view much like we change over time
How beautiful to value that connection people feel to you as you feel in nature even while it’s ever-changing & can be captivating on different days, even with less than idea weather or circumstance, but we still appreciate the purpose of that season or storm
To love ourselves in all the seasons of who we are & how we appear & #BUILDMORETHANJUSTABODY
