I never wanted anything more than this💗🩵🥰💐

Yesterday I recorded a solo podcast answering questions submitted by you all & one that was asked a few times was if I’ll regret stepping away from competing without having won a pro card

The answer is simply no. But the reason for that is more complex:

1) During my time competing I found my identity in Christ which allowed me to lay down the idol of a pro card and truly enjoy the fruits of my pursuit in a different and more meaningful way

2) When I started competing I thought nothing of a pro card. I just wanted to compete. Then I found out about the progressions you can make to become a pro athlete and I was so excited at the opportunity. It’s always been an opportunity, not a right, not a promise, not a guarantee. So isn’t the real blessing that we have the means to go for it?

3) Along the way, I faced a lot of heartbreak, trauma, loss…. So walking away from a sport that brought me so much peace, constancy, predictability, health, & joy during those times was so much more of a positive than being forced out of it.

4) If the pro card was all I wanted, I would’ve likely sacrificed a lot more of my life & future for it. I may have pushed longer and harder and kept these other goals on hold. But eloping with my husband? Becoming a step mom? Being an active Auntie to my sisters babies? Having a baby of my own? The real dream. 

5) I may not have earned a pro card for my physique but I am so proud of the athlete I became, the woman I morphed into, & everything I learned that I can now apply to my life encompassing all mental, emotional, physical, & spiritual

6) Last point, some questioned if I was worried It would affect my success in serving the community if I step away from the stage and since I didn’t get the pro card. The truth is, if someone was only going to hire me because I was actively competing or a pro, then they aren’t the client for me. I didn’t get a degree in psychology and a masters in clinical mental health counseling or become an LAC & national certified counselor for nothing. If the education & clear passion isn’t enough then 🤷🏻‍♀️
