With competition season on so many people's minds, whether you are in it, about to be in it, or considering it; this is for you!
I will say that aside from things like having a great coach and support system, these are some keys to having a positive prep experience that will also support you transitioning post-show
When you consider a competition prep, there are many more factors at play than just 'getting ready by xyz date', especially if you are not the only one involved
I have learned a lot more this prep since becoming married and a step mom...and a dog mom. It has opened my eyes to how much more the demands impact those who I live with and love.
I have not been perfect and I don't expect to be but I certainly try my best to be present in whatever I am choosing to do and who I am with
Competition prep is worth the time, energy, resources, and commitment but it should not bleed you dry financially, emotionally, mentally, or physically past the point of repair.
What you choose to do in your prep will impact you for months post-show, always keep this in mind. Nothing is without consequence so nothing should be without mindful consideration
I hope this helps you better 'prep' for your next prep :)
