What you think may be a healthy way to combat a negative behavior that you regret or feel guilty about could actually be what is perpetuating your negative behavior cycle

While it is important to encourage self-love, responsibility, discipline, and healthy habits it should not come at the cost of our mental health or sustainability of results that we like

The easiest 'fix' to a slip up is actually to evaluate where it originates. Maybe it is in lack of self-worth, limiting beliefs, restrictive behaviors, or negative associations with looks, behaviors, people, and food

But trying to cover up a problem with a bigger problem is like putting a bandage on something that needs to be deep cleaned and stitched up

You may think you are doing a good job but it will only go so far

If you don't want to be hanging on for dear life trying to control yourself, your weight, your choices, or your food then you need a healthier more sustainable norm rooted in self-love, a healthy mindset, and a supportive relationship with food and your body

When you use these control mechanisms, they may feel good but they usually, in short, just support you in further justifying negative self-sabotaging behavior in the future

You basically send the signal to yourself that 'it is okay to sabotage because there is always a way out, a fix, a quick reform' but in reality this is what keeps you stuck, running in circles, or reversing your results

Justification patterns are scary because they feel tight and suffocating--like we don't have a grip on our own self

Rather than reinforcing them, invest in the building of healthy patterns of thought, behavior, and coping
